Laurie Gelman Dishes on Hilarious Story Behind New Book

Not like a regular mom, she’s a cool — and funny — mom! Live With Kelly and Ryan producer Michael Gelman’s wife Laurie Gelman stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Friday, July 26, to dish on her hilarious her new book, You’ve Been Volunteered.

The best-selling author of Class Mom is bringing character and infamous volunteer Jen Dixon back in the sequel and explained to Ryan on-air the book brings Jen back to the schoolyard to deal with the thankless task of class mom yet again.

“It’s a horrible job, by the way, if you ever get asked, Sisanie, say 'No,'” Laurie hilariously told Sis, who is a new mom to twins Aiza and Maxon. “… These are usually professional woman who have given up their careers in their 30s to have kids and everyone wants to, like, run a Fortune 500 company, but instead they’re running the PA and it’s a lot of Type As.”

The books are, of course, based partially on Laurie’s own experience as a class mom and are filled with hilarious moments that are all too relatable.
