It all started after Lively shared a promo photo from her new thriller, A Simple Favor, which also featured her costar in the film, Anna Kendrick.
”@annakendrick47 is the hotter, female(r) version of my husband… so, would it reaaaally count as cheating??” Lively mused on Instagram.
The Pitch Perfect actress replied: “So glad we’re finally taking this public. I let Ryan have Deadpool, he can give me this.”
Reynolds, of course, joined the convo and posted in the comments section: “The most ambitious crossover event in history. I’ll miss you both. Tell my story.”
The duo are known for trolling each other on social media. During an interview with Ryan Seacrest on On Air With Ryan Seacrest Reynolds said that waiting to see Lively’s reaction to his posts is the most fun part.
“It really is as natural as anything you can imagine. It just sort of happens,” Reynolds told Seacrest of their social media banter back in May 2018. “I think it’s kind of an extension of how we are in our personal life. We are usually busting each other’s chops a little bit.”
Our favorite to date was when Reynolds and Lively respectively trolled each other for their birthdays on Instagram last year. In case you missed it, in April 2017, Reynolds wished Lively happy birthday by posting a photo from the Met Gala with her face cropped out and the caption “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife.” She later got revenge on her hubby, posting a pic of Ryan Gosling in October 2017 with Reynolds' face cropped out and the caption, “Happy birthday, baby.”
“That one I remember hitting send while she was laying next to me in bed and just waiting for her to actually get on Instagram and take a look at it,” Reynolds told Seacrest during their interview, recalling when he posted her hilarious birthday shoutout. “[Her reaction] was probably better than the post itself.”
