Jordin Sparks stunned at the premiere of her latest film Show Dogs on Saturday, May 5, just three days after welcoming her first child, Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr., with husband Dana Isaiah.
The new mom glowed in a floral mini dress, making first-time parenthood look like a breeze.
While on the red carpet, Jordin told People magazine that Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr.’s umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck during birth, causing the new mom a slight scare.
“I went to a birth center,” she recalled to People. “It’s actually right across from Cedars Sinai here in L.A., so just in case anything happened, if there’s complications that arise, they actually would escort us over to the hospital.”
The American Idol alum, 28, and her husband, whom she secretly wed in 2017, thankfully chose to have a midwife present, who helped save the day as the baby’s “umbilical cord was wrapped around [his] neck twice.”
“I didn’t see it because I was facing the other way,” Sparks explained, adding that Isaiah, 26, helped deliver the baby.
“He said it almost looked like a scarf – it was wrapped around his neck and body,” she added. “[The midwife helped and] then he was good to go.”
Baby Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr. and mom are both healthy and Sparks is adjusting to motherhood perfectly.
“Everything changed, but almost nothing either, because this is what I was meant to do,” she gushed to People. “I was meant to bring him into this world, and to be his mom.”
