Carrie Underwood Shares New Single Title and More in Candid Blog

In a candid new blog post on her website, Carrie Underwood reveals the first single from her forthcoming sixth-studio album called “Cry Pretty.” The new track comes on the heels of her accident, which left her staying out of the spotlight for months after enduring 40-50 stitches in the face.

Carrie shared in the post that she co-wrote the song with Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose, and Lori McKenna, popular Nashville songwriters who call themselves the Love Junkies.

“I joined one of their writing sessions last year to see if we could come up with some magic…and we did," she shared. "The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It’s emotional. It’s real. And it ROCKS!”

“Cry Pretty” is among the first-ever batch of songs that Carrie had a hand in not only writing and singing, but also producing.

“I’ve always been lucky to have a voice in the writing and recording process, but this is the first time I am this involved in the production of my music,” she added of co-producing with partner David Garcia, whom she met in a songwriting session last year. “It’s been challenging and incredibly rewarding to be involved in every aspect from start to finish. David has been an amazing teacher and partner, and I’m so proud of what we have created.”

The Grammy winner concluded that she “can’t wait to start this new chapter” and even teased a new tour to come, “but that’s a blog for another day,” she wrote.

“Cry Pretty” drops worldwide tomorrow, April 11, at 6 A.M. ET. Look for the world television premiere of the song when Carrie performs it live Sunday on the 53rd ACM Awards on CBS.
