Mariah Carey lit up culture's biggest night with a performance of her latest single "Type Dangerous."

Carey made spectacular entrance at the 2025 BET Awards in Los Angeles on Monday (June 9), arriving in style in a long trench coat that gave a glimpse of the shimmering dress underneath as she appeared among a stage full of dancers to treat the crowd to a rendition of her new track. Shortly into the performance, and in true glamorous diva behavior handing the mic to a dancer to hold up for her as she continued to sing, she removed the coat to reveal a stunning golden dress.

In addition to Anderson .Paak on drums, Rakim surprised the crowd as he joined in to perform a verse from Eric B. & Rakim's 1987 track "Eric B. For President," which "Type Dangerous" samples. As gold butterfly-shaped confetti rained down on to the stage, Carey finished out her performance with some of her 2005 song "It's Like That."

Hosted by Kevin Hart, the 2025 BET Awards celebrated its 25th anniversary with an incredible night full of show-stopping performances from many of your favorite artists, including Lil Wayne, Teyana Taylor, GloRilla, Playboi Carti, Leon Thomas and more, plus a tribute to BET's beloved series 106 & Park. Don't forget to check out the sizzling red carpet fashions and catch up on who took home awards during culture's biggest night.
