Taylor Swift did not attend the 2025 Met Gala despite receiving an invitation.
Sources told TMZ the "Karma" songstress did not attend the illustrious annual event due to a scheduling conflict for the ninth consecutive year.
The last time she graced the red carpet and ascended the legendary Met stairs was in 2016 when she allegedly met her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, as detailed in Reputation era track, "Dress." Swift wore an edgy silver skater dress for the theme, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, and stunned with a bleach-blonde bob.
Swifties thought the "Lavender Haze" hitmaker and her beau, Travis Kelce, might make it to this year's gala because they didn't have to schedule around the Eras Tour that ended in December 2024.
2025's Met Gala theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, where dandyism meets fashion meets intention meets Black excellence.
Max Hollein, The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Marina Kellen French Director and Chief Executive Officer, explained the importance of the theme, drawing on the legacy of Black-led innovation and creative expression.
"This spring's event will mark the opening of the exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, a profoundly scholarly show centering an important legacy of Black-led sartorial innovation and creative expression that continues to inspire and shape our world today."
The exhibition of the same name, open to the public starting May 10, is the first in 22 years to focus exclusively on menswear.
