Ashanti brought her incredible vocals to Yankee Stadium during her first nationally broadcast performance since she and Nelly welcomed their new baby into the world.
On Tuesday night, October 29, the New York native opened Game 4 of the 2024 World Series by singing the National Anthem. She wore a beautiful Yankee blue jacket to match her Yankee t-shirt as she went out on the field to sing. Fans were immediately smitten by her soothing vocals throughout the performance. Afterward, she was spotted up in the suites with her boo Nelly, who was there to support her.
Ashanti hasn't held a mic in public since she was pregnant with her first child. The "Baby" singer and her husband found out they were expecting back in December after they went viral for insinuating Ashanti was pregnant while on stage during an event. The couple secretly got married that same month and held onto their baby news until Ashanti formally announced it back in April during an interview with Essence.
"When he blurted that out on stage, we actually did not know," the singer said about the viral moment in December. "I hadn't even taken a test at that time...I was pushing it down and he's like, making it look like something. And I'm like, 'No!'"
"He was so happy and we were both smiling and it was so funny," she added. "I was actually at his mom's house. He was in the studio. It was a really cool moment. It was a little bit of everything."
Ashanti is the latest superstar to bless the mic during the 2024 World Series. Ice Cube hit the field for Game 2 at Dodgers Stadium and Fat Joe rocked the pitcher's mound during Game 3. Watch her performance below.
