ZAYN Confirms Second Studio Album, Talks Gigi Hadid Split: Listen

Zayn Malik is officially back! The former One Direction member surprised us on Friday, April 13, and phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest to dish on his new single “Let Me” and confirmed that yes, his second studio album is on the way.

In “Let Me,” ZAYN sings about promising to be faithful to a woman forever. The song comes on the heels of his split from longtime girlfriend Gigi Hadid. The model and singer called it quits last month, announcing the breakup via similar statements on social media.

“I’m really excited,” ZAYN told Ryan of his newly dropped track. “I wrote the song earlier this year. I've been working on the album for just over a year. I wrote everything myself — I’m super proud of it. At the minute, I’m in rehearsals for my tour. … I’m really excited for that and to finally get out there and perform on stage.”

Yes, that’s confirmation for an album AND! tour. ZAYN’s second studio album will follow his 2016 debut solo album Mind of Mine.

“[I wrote 'Let Me'] about seven or eight months ago,” ZAYN added, confirming the track was written while dating then-girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

“I was in love and I think that's pretty evident and I was aspiring to be in love with someone for the rest of my life and the rest of theirs, as we all do,” ZAYN added of the track, hinting at his split. “Things change and we move forward in life and times change but that’s what I was thinking when I wrote it. … That’s the whole point of life,” he added. “We go through experiences so we have memories and stories and things to write down and contemplate and think about.”

ZAYN confirmed to Sisanie that “Let Me” is indeed the “most loverboy” track he’s written and that more is to come.

“More music is coming soon,” ZAYN concluded. “The album will be following that. I’m doing a whole special thing with the videos … ‘Let Me’ goes with ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ so there is going to be a whole continuation, like a video project, so I’m working on that at the minute.”
