There’s a shift going on in how people are thinking about work.
Instead of climbing a traditional career ladder (step by step promotions over time with the same company) a lot of people are choosing what you might call a “career lily pad” approach.
They hop around, move laterally, pause, experiment, try different roles.
It’s not about slacking off; it’s about figuring out where they feel most plugged in, what work gives them purpose, what fits their life rhythms.
So, if you’re listening to this right now and thinking, this is sooo me... it doesn’t mean you’re rejecting ambition or success. You’re just redefining how those things look.
Rather than seeing success only as a corner office, it’s becoming more about balance, alignment with one’s values, maybe mental wellness, creative freedom.
Career growth doesn’t have to mean burning out. It can mean building something that works for you, not according to some rigid old blueprint.
