Ever noticed how some people ask for what they need, while others drop hints and hope you catch on?
That’s the difference between "ask familes" and "guess families”—it all comes down to how we were raised!
In "ask" families, people say exactly what they want, and the other person simply says yes or no. "Hey, can you help me move Saturday?" Straight to the point, no guessing involved.
In "guess" families, direct requests feel too blunt, so people hint instead. "Ugh, moving this weekend is going to be a nightmare..." Hoping the other person picks up on it and offers to help.
Neither style is right or wrong, but knowing the difference makes communication easier.
If you’re a guesser, try being more direct. If you’re an asker, soften your approach by giving people an out.
A little empathy goes a long way! I’m definitely an asker—I’ll ask if I really need help, but only as a last resort!
