Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” quickly became No. 1 and was everywhere this summer but apparently several small business owners in Compton had no idea that a rap superstar was filming the music video on their street and it wound up costing them thousands.
Back in June…Kendrick filmed the music video in his proud hometown of Compton.
The problem was, according to a report from the LA Times, that local business owners weren’t informed of the plans.
For example…the owner of Compton soul food restaurant Alma’s Place noticed no customers were in the restaurant on the day of the filming — but the parking lot was packed.
Whyyy??? Well, because those cars belonged to fans trying to catch a glimpse of Kendrick, who was filming the video outside the nearby courthouse.
She estimated that she lost somewhere around $2,000 that day. Other business owners had similar experiences.
For the record… these businesses are not mad at Kendrick! They are mad with the city for failing to let them know.
