How Would You Feel If Your Car Alerted You Every Time You Were Speeding?

If you’re driving right now…listen up. How fast are you going? Well, it’s morning rush hour, so probably not super fast. BUT…if you were going fast, how would you feel about your car letting you know…you are going too fast?

Governor Gavin Newsom could soon approve a bill that would require new passenger vehicles sold or manufactured in California to be equipped with a warning system to alert drivers when they are speeding.

The system would alert drivers with a visual and audio signal if you they go over the speed limit by 10 mph…but it wouldn’t physically limit a car’s speed.

Here’s why: traffic fatalities went up by 22% since 2019…and one-third of all traffic fatalities are speeding-related.

The legislation would be the first of its kind in the U.S…but the National Transportation Safety Board has been asking for this for years.

The Governor has until the end of the month to sign it…and it would go into effect with 2030 model cars.
