Spaving is the act of spending money to save money…but here is the key: just because something is on sale doesn’t mean it’s a good deal…if you don’t need it.
That $10 sweater is still $10 coming out of your bank account!
But Spavers can’t resist a sale. I gotta admit, I’m totally guilty of this.
I’ll come home and show Michael something I got on sale and tell him what the original price was and what I actually paid… in my head thinking, “look at all the money I saved”! And he’ll say “did you need that?”
He’s right…No savings there… just Spaving!
A common spaving trap is when stores offer free shipping to customers who spend a certain amount of money. You feel better about adding a few more items to your cart, even if you weren’t planning on making those additional purchases.
Might be a hard habit to kick but what’s the alternative. Buy something only when you need it… and pay FULL PRICE?
But do we really need half the stuff we buy anyway?
