'Treat Town' App Brings The Fun Back To Halloween This Year

Merchandise is Offered for Sale at Walgreens

We keep hearing about how Trick-or-Treating is basically cancelled this Halloween - in fact Beverly Hills has banned it entirely this year because of the risk of spreading coronavirus - but there is another way to get in on the traditional Halloween fun with your kids this year!

Mars Wrigley — the maker of M&M's, Snickers, Starburst, to name a few — just launched TREAT TOWN, an app that allows families to partake in the joy of trick-or-treating this Halloween, without increasing their risk of contracting COVID-19.

Let me break it down for you:

First, of course, you need to download TREAT TOWN to your phone. From there, you can decide between being a candy-giver or trick-or-treater.

As a candy giver, you can purchase virtual candy credits and give them to trick-or-treaters. You also can decide if you want to open your door to whomever is virtually trick-or-treating in your area or to only allow your friends and family to trick-or-treat at your door.

As a trick-or-treater, you can collect candy credits then those credits can be exchanged for real candy online or in stores across the country.

Another option on the app? You can "treat it forward" and give your candy credits to the Boys & Girls Club of America as a cash donation.

If you are a kid doing the trick-or-treating, you then can exchange the treat credits you receive for actual goodies in store! So parents take their kids around to those participating in the app, get the treat credits, and then take them to redeem credits for their candy snacks at retailers across the U.S., including Walmart, Target, and CVS.

How easy, safe, and still fun is that?!

There's more, too!

Mars Wrigley will also be making a $50,000 donation to the organization to help "build great futures for all young people."

I love this! Such a fun and innovative way for the candy company to adapt to this strange, strange year. TREAT TOWN is available in the app store now.
