Southern California Neighborhoods Are Participating in Teddy "Bear Hunts"

US-HEALTH-VIRUS-TEDDY BEAR

There are some things that are completely out of our control right now, in fact, it feels like most things are completely out of our control right now.

But there are still things that you can do to inspire kindness, happiness, and a little entertainment for others, from the comfort of your own home.

One of those things is participating in a "bear hunt" in your neighborhood! If you live in a neighborhood with a lot of kids - or with any kids at all - all you have to do is track down a teddy bear you have at home and place it in sight from the street in your window. Honestly, even if you only have a different stuffed animal, that works too.

Michael and I decided to participate in the bear hunt in our neighborhood because even though our twins are a bit too young to understand this, there are a lot of kids in the area who have been out on walks with their parents. And since placing the bear in our window, I've seen families going by and pointing out the bear in our window, counting the bears on the street!

The trend in SoCal seemed to start in the Inland Empire and has since spread across Los Angeles, as well as into other cities and states across the country.

The activity is said to be inspired by children’s book "We’re Going on a Bear Hunt," written by British author Michael Rosen. So, now I think I need to get the book for my kids. Then later on, when I read it to them, I can tell them about this time and how our home participated in a Bear Hunt of our own!

I love seeing our communities come together right now through something that is such a challenge for so many of us. Hang in there everyone, we will get through this. Keep being kind of each other.
