Amy Schumer Talks About Difficult C-Section And First Year Of Motherhood

While she is always candid about her experience with pregnancy and motherhood, it wasn't until recently that Amy Schumer opened up about her actual birth experience. Which, as it turns out, what more challenging than your usual birth (although, I wouldn't say any birth experience is "normal" or "easy" by any means.)

Amy, much like myself, gave birth to her son - Gene, who was born in May - via c-section. But her c-section was not your usual c-section where mom gets put on some drugs, they cut and take the baby out and it's a pretty quick process.

Amy just opened up on the Informed Pregnancy and Parenting Podcast about how her delivery via c-section took over three hours.

Amy revealed that the method of delivery was simply done because it was "her choice" and then went on to explain some details of the day Gene was born.

“It was a rainy Sunday and I woke up vomiting and was like the sickest I’d been the whole time... And I was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’ I was so big and I was so miserable and couldn’t keep anything down.”

Oooh! Who else has absolutely been there!!

Amy then went on to explain why her delivery was complicated and took longer:

"I was throwing up through the first hour of my C-section... "It’s supposed to take about an hour and a half — mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis. And that was really scary."

Despite the "scary" delivery, Amy and her husband, Chris Fischer, welcomed a healthy baby boy.

Amy recently shared a sweet post on Instagram about her first year being a mom:

In true Amy fashion, she couldn't simply say it was the best year of her life - but added that it was the best year of her life despite being covered in vomit for half of it.

That's true mom energy right there!
