Emma Roberts Opens Up About Dealing With Life's Highs and Lows

2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Radhika Jones - Arrivals

It's not every day that we get direct confirmation, or even direct comments about a celebrity split from one of the celebs involved.

But for Emma Roberts, she took her recent interview for her cover of Cosmopolitan as a chance to address the "highs and lows" of life and directly comment on "loss."

Emma and her on-and-off fiance since 2014, Evan Peters, split this past March, and while Emma has been spotted hanging out with actor Garrett Hedlund, she is clearly still working through the break up.

Even though Emma is only 28, her advice on dealing with those highs and lows is something that I think we ALL can learn from.

On losing something:

“I think that no matter who you are or what you do or wherever in the world you are, anything ending is hard... Losing something is hard.”

She continued:

“I’m realizing that life is highs and lows. I’m trying to ride them out and live somewhere in the middle. When you’re low, you think it’s never going to end. When you’re high, you’re so scared of it ending. And I’ve lived in both of those places for too long."

In the interview, Emma also opened up about how hard it is to live and have relationships in the spotlight.

“It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience...growing up is hard. Sometimes it makes me sad that I can’t have a private moment. Because of Twitter and Instagram there’s a whole other element where everybody can comment on what you’re doing, and no one knows the real story."

Look, I'm happily married, so I don't necessarily take her comments on the highs and lows in terms of relationships. But I love her point about dealing with the highs and lows! When something is low, you have to believe you'll get through it! When something is great, you have to accept it might end - but accept that while enjoying the high.
