Amy Robach had a mammogram on-air on Good Morning America on October 1, 2013, and was later diagnosed with cancer. The journalist recalled the shocking, life-altering moment on-air with Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday, October 2, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
"I thought I was doing it for other women ... I had no idea I would actually a few weeks later get a breast cancer diagnosis," Amy recalled. "I thought I was healthy. I had no family history. I literally thought it couldn't happen to me."
Amy shared being diagnosed with breast cancer forced her to live every day like it's her last.
"I had to decide is this going to cripple me or motivate me? And I just decided to live differently. To live better. ... I joke and say like a country music song. I was living like I was dying ... because we're all dying. We're all one day closer to death."
