SZA shared an emotional memory with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, January 26, that she's forever thankful for.
The "Kill Bill" singer recalled bringing her late grandmother to the Grammy's at Madison Sqaure Garden in 2018.
"Ryan, I have to say something, you know there's an interview at the red carpet at the Grammy's and you're talking to my grandma who is no longer with us and that was the first time that my grandma had ever known that I did music," SZA shared. "And when you asked her if she was proud of me, I was scared that she wouldn't know what you were talking about. That was the first time she said she was proud of me, was when she was talking to you!"
"It's the last memory I have of her," SZA added. "It's the only [visual] memory I have of her ... saying anything like that. ... I keep that picture ... [as] my screensaver on my phone."
At the time, SZA not only performed at the awards show, but was also nominated for a bevy of Grammys including Best New Artist.
