Stand-up comedian, actor, and filmmaker Jerrod Carmichael joined Ryan Seacrest on-air today to talk about his latest comedy special Rothaniel, streaming now on HBOMax, and his directorial debut in the dark comedy called On The Count of Three, in select theaters and on demand now.
Carmichael's Rothaniel is a comedy special but feels more like a confessional versus traditional stand-up.
"It's definitely me turning the lens on myself," the comedian told Seacrest.
The special was also very important because Jerrod revealed personal things about his family, including coming out as gay to the world, which Carmichael said was a "very frightening" thing to do, and compared it to a man who is afraid of heights who is jumping out of an airplane on HBO.
