Shhh! A Quiet Place is back — but it almost didn't happen. Actor and director John Krasinski shared on-air with Ryan Seacrest he had no plans to direct a sequel to the 2018 horror film.
"I rewrote and directed the first one and the second one. I actually wasn’t going to do [the second one]," Krasinski shared. "The studio said, 'We're going to do a second one.' And I said, 'Great! Who are you going to get to do it? Because I don’t think I’m ever going to tell as personal a story as that first one.' As crazy as it sounds," the actor explained, "when you look at the poster, that first movie really was a love letter to my kids, so that was an extremely personal thing about parenting and what would you do for your kids."
The films revovle around a family that must live in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound.
Krasinski added that he agreed to do the second project when he couldn't get a new idea out of his head to have actress Millicent Simmonds take over the lead.
"I had no intentions of doing a sequel for sequel sake," John added. "... This is more like the second book in a trilogy."
