This App Helps You Get Leftover COVID Vaccines That Would Have Been Tossed

We’ve all heard about vaccine chasing and others failing to be able to secure an appointment online, whether you meet the current criteria or you're just hoping to get a leftover dose of the vaccine that would otherwise need to be thrown out. (Both vaccines can last up to six months frozen. Once thawed, Pfizer's can be kept in a refrigerator for five days and Moderna's for 30 days. Once opened for injection they only last a few hours.)

But, now, there's an app for that! And it's really quite genius.

Cyrus Massoumi created app Dr. B and it connects you with local providers with extra doses using a standby system. You can sign up to get a text when they become available.

Massoumi also started ZocDoc, which helps patients find available doctor’s appointments, and Shadow, which reunites lost pets with their owners.
