If you have face or lip filler, can you get the COVID vaccine? A listener shared her concern on-air on Friday, January 8, after a TikTok video went viral alerting filler fans of a potential adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccines.
According to the post, some with lip fillers are suffering a reaction and swelling.
Dr. Rivkin of Westside Aesthetics shared with us that fret not, you can still get the vaccine.
“What we know [is] the Moderna trial, there were three patients with previous facial fillers and they developed some swelling,” Dr. Rivkin explained. “We treated them with steroids and everything went away and resolved. … Did the vaccine actually cause the swelling? We don’t know,” he added. “It could be random so scientifically speaking we have no real reason to adjust what we're doing.”
In fact, Dr. Rivkin says that the vaccine is “so safe and effective” that “there should be zero hesitation.”
