Expert Breaks Down Everything You Need to Know About the COVID Vaccines

With the highly anticipated COVID vaccines becoming accessible in the near future, Ryan Seacrest connected with Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at UCSF Dr. Bob Wachter to answer all our questions.

As previously reported, there are three vaccines on the way, with Pzifer and Moderna expected to be released soon and with 95% effectiveness. Dr. Bob Wachter shared that most won’t get to chose the exact vaccine they receive, but that both are relatively similar aside from Pzifer needing to be stored in a subarctic freeze.

“The third vaccine likely to get approved is the AstraZeneca one which seems a little less effective than the first two,” Dr. Wachter shared, referring to the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca.

“We know that the chances you will get sick from COVID are close to zero,” Dr. Wachter continued of the success rates from the Pzifer and Moderna trials. “The chances you will get very sick from COVID are almost zero.”
