It’s no secret Jason Derulo’s in great shape — remember those salmon smoothies and golf cart deadlifts? Well, naturally Ryan Seacrest had to ask the “Savage Love” crooner how he’s staying in shape in 2020 quarantine. Derulo joined Seacrest via Zoom on Wednesday, November 18, and dished his workout secrets as well as what’s on his holiday wish list this year.
“When I’m trying to maintain, honestly, I work out once every single day,” Derulo shared. “The days off kind of come naturally … but, I tell myself I’m going to the gym every single day and when I’m really on it I’ll do a cardio for 30 minutes and then I’ll do my weights, so it’ll be two workouts in a day and that’s when the whole game changes.”
While “asking for a friend” aka himself which is better, cardio or weights first, Seacrest learned from Derulo it’s all about your goals.
“It depends on what your goal is: if your goal is to build more mass then you should do the weights first,” the 8-pack owner shared. “If your goal is to lean up, you should do the cardio first because obviously, the first workout is going to be better than the last.”
While we’re adding workout equipment to our holiday list for Seacrest, Derulo is in need of simpler items he forgets about. Like, for example, hair care.
"You should be thinking about things that I need like things that slipped my mind, the simple things, just being thoughtful,” Derulo shared of the perfect gift this holiday season. “Like, I be running out of hair gel sometimes. … Thoughtful. Like, ‘He knows I’m going to use that.’ That’s a vibe.”
