Nicole Richie Shares How Her Epic Wellness Ego Nikki Fre$h Was Born: Watch

Nikki Fre$h in da house! Nicole Richie joined Ryan Seacrest on-air on Thursday, October 1, and shared how her alter ego came about. The socialite-turned-mother-of-two and pro gardener has teamed up with Quibi for a new series revolving around Nikki Fre$h which both celebrates and parodies the funnywoman's love of nature, gardening, and the trap music genre.

“I do have a lot of attitude,” Nicole shared with Seacrest after playing her wellness anthem “Parent Trap.” “It really comes out when I’m in the studio. I think ever since I heard Janet Jackson’s albums in the ‘80s I was like, ‘I will be in that studio one day.’ I’ve been preparing for this my whole life. You know? I was just like ready. I had all that built up attitude just ready to unleash in the studio.”

Richie added that combine her inner Janet Jackson with her sustainably, organic-loving self and mom life and you get Nikki Fre$h.

“Nikki Fre$h is my alter ego. I discovered her in my garden,” Richie explained. “I have been growing an edible garden for the past six or seven years and I started posting all of my harvest on Instagram because that’s what Oprah did. I was like, I have to also, and after my third ‘like’ I was like it feels like I need a stage name so I named myself Nikki Fre$h,” she added. “I thought it also lent itself well to music, but I also really wanted to share with the world and to the masses how amazing and cool and exciting and spiritual gardening is and so I decided to have Nikki Fre$h put out a ‘parent trap’ album. It can’t be trap music because I have too much respect for the genre so I created my own genre which is 'parent trap.'"

The Quibi show also features six different music videos, which, for Richie, was a dream come true. To give you a little taste of her genre, "Parent Trap" features lyrics like “this how mommy rap" and she also has a track dubbed “U.G.L.Y.” which is about eating less-than-perfect-looking fruits and eliminating food waste. Yep, you need to blast this tongue-in-cheek music now!
