5 Organizing Tips From Netflix’s “Get Organized with The Home Edit”

The timing of Netflix’s new show “Get Organized with The Home Edit” couldn’t have come at a better time. With a majority of people having to work and homeschool from home, staying organized has been never been more important.

Expert organizers Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin of The Home Edit became Instagram famous after posting their oddly-satisfying projects and rows of rainbow-organized pantries, closets and more and now they’re encouraging viewers everywhere after tackling home projects for their clientele on Netflix, including the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Khloe Kardashian and Neil Patrick Harris.

So what’s their process? Start with setting a goal. What are you trying to achieve? Then edit the space. Go through the items and toss or donate items and make room for sentimental items. Then categorize the items you’re keeping into zones and use “product” aka clear containers or other bins and canisters to your liking to keep things in place and easily accessible.

The gurus also shared 5 other tips with Apartment Therapy you can find below:

Create an “away” system to separate work from personal life.

Contain items mindfully and with purpose.

Use walls and doors when you’re short on shelf space.

Check your sentimental items to see if they’re still sentimental.

Whatever you’re organizing, never (ever) skip the edit part.
