You wouldn't think it, but Cardi B is shy! The rapper joined Ryan Seacrest for the first time on-air via Zoom on Wednesday, August 26, and revealed she was super shy at first meeting “WAP” collaborator Megan Thee Stallion as well as other famous pals including Beyoncé and Rihanna.
Cardi and Hot Girl Meg’s collab “WAP” dropped earlier this month and has since skyrocketed up the charts, debuting at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and making history with the duo becoming the first female rap team-up to do so.
So how did the ladies first connect?
“Our stylists linked us up,” Cardi shared with Seacrest, revealing that at first they were both a “little shy.”
“They were like, ‘You guys got to get together,’” Cardi added. "...‘You girls got to link up.’ And I was like ‘I know. You know I’m shy.’ And he was like, ‘You’ve got to get off that box and people need to get to know you.' ... And that’s exactly what we did. We linked up and we had a good time. … And then we started sending records to each other and she got on it and I was like, ‘Oh, man!’ … From there on we just worked hand-in-hand.”
Knowing the two superstars, fans might find it hard to believe they weren't as confident meeting as they appear.
“Girls are like that,” Cardi told Ryan. “Especially me. When I meet any celebrity, big or small, I just, oh my gosh! Want to hide."
Cardi added that when she met Beyoncé and Rihanna she didn’t know what to say.
“I was so frozen that all I could remember was her eyes,” she added of Queen Bey.
