Is It Safe to Eat Outside a Restaurant Now? Sisanie Breaks Down the Risks

When the Coronavirus spread and lockdown began, activities that we once took for granted were suddenly no longer an option: seeing friends, going to concerts, getting drinks at a packed bar — even dining out.

Sisanie shared on-air with Ryan Seacrest and Tanya that while many restaurants have reopened with restrictions and new guidelines in place (for example, outdoor eating), is it safe though to dine out?

According to experts, if you’re craving your favorite spot or want to support local businesses in your area, the safest option is, sadly, still takeout. Experts say COVID is not only droplet spread, but it remains in the air for up to 30 minutes. For this reason, picking up your carry-out food from local restaurants is the safest.

The second safest option is eating at a restaurant where there's outdoor seating and tables that are widely spaced, ideally at a time when it's not crowded.

That said, even though you are outdoors, you’re still not in the clear. In fact, experts stress if you're in a high-risk category or live with someone who is — people over 65 or those with underlying medical conditions — you shouldn’t dine out at all.

Have you dined out since the pandemic?
