Katie Couric Reunites ‘Parent Trap’ Cast 22 Years Later: Reunion Details!

It’s been 22 years since the remake of classic rom-com Parent Trap! Katie Couric joined Ryan Seacrest on-air on Monday, July 20, to share how she got the cast to reunite for a fun trip down memory lane.

Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid and Elaine Hendrix joined the rest of their co-stars, as well as director Nancy Meyers and writer Charles Shyer, via Katie’s IG Live that debuted on Monday.

“Nancy and I did an IG Live in the beginning of the pandemic and Lindsay Lohan popped in and we were like, ‘Hey, let’s get the gang back together!’” Katie shared of how the nostalgic reunion came about. “… So I moderated this really, really fun Parent Trap reunion we’re pushing out on the 22nd anniversary.”

During their IG Live, Dennis Quaid recalled how talented Lohan was at just age 11 portraying twins.

“It was so much fun,” Katie shared with Seacrest. “So everyone check out my Instagram page and you’ll see it.”

The news anchor also touched upon more serious topics, including what she’s learned through interviewing the most captivating personalities in news, politics, and pop culture on her podcast amid the global pandemic.

“It’s sort of the imperfect storm, of all these factors coming together and I think it’s testing us,” Katie shared while discussing the social injustice movement, COVID-19 pandemic, and not to mention current economic hardship. “Most people are saying that this is the time of transformational change … and we’re not going to go back to normal. … Something essential has changed in us: how we’re living our lives, how we’re spending our time, how we’re thinking about our purpose, why we’re here. I think this pandemic has caused people to ask some really existential questions not only of themselves, but of society.”

Katie concluded she’ll continue to explore the new normal and what the modern workplace, sports, and even travel will look like with a new series dubbed “The Future Of.”
