So much came out of the day Julia Michaels and JP Saxe first met and connected for a songwriting session. For starters, they’re now in love and in a committed relationship. And as if that wasn’t enough, they also came up with JP’s breakout hit featuring Julia “If the World Was Ending.”
But the song almost never happened.
"I had the line 'If the world was ending you’d come over, right?' as an attempt at a previous song of mine," JP told Songwriter Universe. "I liked it, I just didn’t like it when paired with the other verse. So I kept it and it lived in my journal for about a year. Then in July I found it and started messing with it by myself but literally stopped mid-melody at the piano. I said, 'No, I’m saving this for Julia because it’s perfect for that session.' You’ve got to come correct when you’re writing with Julia Michaels."
The songstress clearly left the session impressed by the lyric and a whole lot more!
