Australia’s ARPA Awards honor the best songwriters and composers Down Under as well as in New Zealand and the surrounding Pacific Islands and this year the night’s big winner was unsurprisingly the woman who also recently became Australia’s biggest breakout star since Sia: Tones and I.
Her global smash “Dance Monkey” was named the ARPA Song of the Year, but it was the other major award she bagged that was particularly meaningful for her.
The ARPA 2020 Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year.
“As an artist, we don’t get recognized, a lot of the time as songwriters, but as an artist who does write my music I want to say thank you," she shared after the win.
Sia and Lady Gaga also won big at the awards.
