Questlove and Black Thought, The Roots’ respective drumming bandleader and MC, saw their musical careers take an unexpected turn onto TV when they agreed to become Jimmy Fallon’s house band on the Tonight Show and they’re now expanding those TV careers even further.
The duo’s mutual production company, Two One Five Entertainment, has inked a deal to begin creating original content both scripted and unscripted for NBC.
"This deal is very important to us as we've been storytellers for our entire career," Questlove told the Hollywood Reporter. "And this allows us to share these stories on a much larger scale. We see this as the next chapter to our careers and we are very involved in the entire process. I'm directing, Black Thought is writing and we both are producing."
Look for their show to start popping up on streaming services and NBC soon.
