Mark Wahlberg Wants to Continue ‘McMillions’ With Ben Affleck, Matt Damon

Mark Wahlberg wants to join forces with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to bring HBO’s McMillions to the big screen. The Oscar-nominated actor, who executive produced the docuseries, phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday, March 4, and revealed he’s in talks to further explore the fascinating McDonald’s scandal on film.

“It’s one of those things that if a writer wrote it down, you wouldn’t believe it,” Wahlberg reflected of the stranger-than-fiction true story of how $24 million was stolen from the McDonald’s Monopoly game. “I mean, it’s absolutely fascinating. … We found the story and we were just like we have to make this.”

Damon and Affleck also similarly discovered the story and bought rights to an article depicting the scandal, which leads Wahlberg to want to partner up.

“It was a competing project,” he explained. “Matt Damon and Ben Affleck actually bought the rights to an article about it to make a feature film but I’m hoping now maybe we can combine forces and go and make the movie together because it’s such an amazing story.”

And yes, there’s more coming for breakout star FBI agent Doug Mathews.

“We’re actually trying to do a show with him,” Wahlberg told Seacrest, adding that Matthews is who he’d want to play on the big screen. “We’ll see what happens.”
