Forget Santa, Brad Paisley is coming to town! The country star phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, December 3, and shared how he’s opening a free grocery store in Nashville for those in need. The crooner also revealed what’s in store with his forthcoming special Brad Paisley Thinks He’s Special.
Ahead of Thanksgiving, OAWRS’ Sisanie and Tanya Rad went to a local Ralph’s grocery store and helped buy strangers’ groceries. Similarly, Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, are spearheading the development of a new grocery store.
“We’re building it right now,” Paisley told Seacrest of the innovative, heartfelt new concept. “I guess it will be all ready to go sometime after the first of the year. It’s based on one in Santa Barbara that we started taking our kids to and what ours is called is ‘The Store’ and it’s meant to have dignity, unlike a lot of brown bag programs or something where it’s like they give you a handout out of the back of a truck. It’s like basically here we are saying, ‘Bring your family, if you qualify, and you’ve lost your job and you’re on hard times, and walk through.’ It looks like a grocery store,” Paisley continued. “But everything is free for those who qualify and the kids don’t know anything about what the parents are going through which is one of the big problems, the dignity that is lost when you have to take a handout.”
Speaking of dignity, Paisley teased he’s throwing his out the window when it comes to his forthcoming new special, Brad Paisley Thinks He’s Special, which features his pals including Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker, Kelsea Ballerini, Hootie & the Blowfish, the Jonas Brothers, Chris Harrison, Peyton Manning and more who will roast Paisley.
