Ava Max’s breakout hit "Sweet But Psycho" is certainly getting lots of play at parties around the world these days, though when you dissect its lyrics it’s definitely not a traditional party anthem.
And don’t expect her to ever release one, because writing them doesn’t really interest her.
"Drinking and partying never appealed to me in lyrics – they don’t have a lot of meaning behind them," she tells the Sydney Confidential. "It is sometimes fun when you party and listen to those fun songs but they don’t have a lot of meaning behind them. I wanted to add a meaning to a fun song, which is hard to do."
Ava is working night and day on just that right now as she finishes her debut album, which is expected later this year.
