In a video posted to Twitter, Perry can be seen in a lettuce mini dress attempting to get her hamburger costume back on when Lopez sashays into the bathroom. J.Lo hilariously looks over at Perry before acknowledging her with a quick “Hey babe.”
Met Gala bathroom moments have become even more entertaining than the carpet held prior to the annual gala, which was themed “Camp: Notes on Fashion” this year. The theme was a nod to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, Notes on “Camp,” which defines the term as “its love of the unnatural, of artifice and exaggeration.”
Prior to changing into her double-double cheeseburger ensemble, complete with a toothpick, Perry was lit on the carpet — literally. The American Idol judge donned a 40-pound chandelier dress designed by Jeremy Scott for Moschino.
“There is a built-in corset consisting of 18 steel bones and two hidden battery packs to illuminate the lights,” Scott told Vogue of the costume. “I mean who wants to wear a chandelier that doesn't light up!”
Still, nothing beats the burger.
