Following the passing of beloved actor Luke Perry production was understandably suspended on Riverdale, where he played Archie’s father, Fred.
This allowed for the team to grieve and honor him while writers worked tirelessly to tweak the storyline in the remaining season 3 scripts to account for the tragedy.
Filming is once again under way and the show’s creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa paid tribute to Luke on Instagram, writing:
“So heartbroken about Luke. He was a father, brother, friend, and mentor. Each night before he had to shoot a scene, he’d call me and we’d talk about...everything. I will miss those calls.”
In a later post while on the way to the set, he added, "Tonight’s episode of Riverdale finds Fred doing what he does best--helping Archie. It is dedicated to Luke, as all episodes will be for the rest of our run."
