Toni Harris: “I Will Be” the First-Ever Female in the NFL

Go, girl! If you watched the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 3, you likely caught a lot of the commercials, including Toyota’s spot for the new RAV4 Hybrid. The star of the powerful ad is Toni Harris , a 22-year-old free safety at East Los Angeles College who is determined to become the first-ever woman in the NFL.

“It's so crazy — I had to turn my phone off last night,” Toni told Ryan Seacrest on-air on Monday, February 4, after the big game. “As soon as it aired at the Super Bowl … my phone started blowing up. It was so crazy.”

Toni, who was diagnosed with cancer at age 18, is determined to conquer her goals. Growing up, the athlete shared with Ryan that she always wanted to play football, but was told it was a “man’s sport” and that she was too "fragile."

“I want to be the first female in the NFL — I will be,” she proclaimed on-air. “I believe that God is going to take me higher.”
