Maroon 5 Address Super Bowl Halftime Critics With Heartfelt Message

One love! Maroon 5 took to Instagram after performing alongside Travis Scott and Big Boi during the Super Bowl LIII halftime show on Sunday, February 3.

The band performed tracks including "Girls Like You," "There Will Be Love," "Sugar,” and “Moves Like Jagger" during their set, which also featured a beautiful gospel choir.

“When we accepted the responsibility to perform at the SBHTS, I took out my pen and just wrote," Levine shared on Instagram after the fact. "Some of the words that came to me in that moment eventually made their way onto the incredible lanterns that flew high and low tonight. We thank the universe for this historic opportunity to play on the world’s biggest stage. We thank our fans for making our dreams possible. And we thank our critics for always pushing us to do better. One Love. ❤️.” The words on the lantern read everything from “Forgive” to “Laugh,” “Cry,” “Smile,” “Share,” and “Embrace.”

The halftime show also included a surprise appearance from SpongeBob SquarePants. Travis Scott then arrived in a blast of fire and rapped "Sicko Mode” before Big Boi arrived in a Cadillac convertible and fur coat.
