The New York Times covers all forms of art and music ranging from classical to jazz to avant-garde to indie and good old pop music.
Well, they have unveiled their picks for the year’s 28 best albums of 2018 in all genres and two pop queens managed to crack the Top 10.
Ariana Grande’s Sweetener checks in at No. 7 with The Times describing it colorfully as: "Elaborate yet insistently skeletal tracks let her vocals tease, swoop, push back against pressure, blossom into harmonies and bask in satisfaction."
And Janelle Monae finished at the very top of their best of list at No. 1, thanks to her album Dirty Computer, which they say is full of: "Funky riffs, snappy beats and crisp pop-song forms to promise that love, polymorphous sensuality and an inclusive American spirit can conquer all."
