Geoffrey Owens Accepts Woman Who Took His Photo at Trader Joe’s Apology

Geoffrey Owens has not only come out on top of the viral Trader Joe’s shaming, but has also landed a gig with Tyler Perry. The actor, who was criticized and shamed after a woman (ironically) named Karma snapped a photo of him working at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s in between gigs, phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Friday, September 7, and shared with Ryan not only what he’s learned from the drama, but that he’s accepted the woman’s apology and also Tyler Perry’s job offer!

The former Cosby Show actor previously spoke out about the criticism, stating on Good Morning America that no one should be shamed for any honest job and that “every job is worthwhile and valuable.”

“What’s funny is that I never really formulated and articulated this to myself before,” Geoffrey told Ryan on-air. “I mean, I always felt that way inside, but it never really occurred to me when you really think about it because you think, ‘We’ll that’s not true because this one has a lot more money and this a lot more prestige,’ but that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about the fact that someone is working this job is just as good as any job.”

The woman who posted the photo has already apologized to the actor, expressing that she didn’t mean any harm.

“I had forgiven her in my heart for what she did and that’s fine so I’d actually love the opportunity to express to her that we’re cool,” Geoffrey told Ryan. “I hope she’s learned something from it like we’ve all learned something from it.”

The actor has since accepted Tyler Perry’s offer to appear in an upcoming 10-episode arc on OWN’s The Haves and the Have Nots.

“He’s awesome,” the actor said of Perry. “He’s just been so generous, just an incredible generous [man].”
