Ashlee Simpson Says Lip Sync Incident Made Her a Better Performer

Ashlee Simpson-Ross has an incident from her past to thank for her confidence as an artist today.

Back in 2004 the wrong backing track played during her musical performance on Saturday Night Live and it was revealed she utilized some vocal assistance.

Well, she recently opened up about the event and said that going through it helped her learn who she is as an artist.

She tells E! News: "Things in life happen to you and they make you stronger and they make you a better performer, a better person. I think things like that build your character and your strength and it's how you handle them."

Her new reality show Ashlee and Evan premieres on E! September 9th.
