Cool for the summer! Demi Lovato teased her newly dyed tresses on Instagram Stories on Tuesday, July 17, revealing she’s gone blonde.
In the pic, Lovato shows off her honey blonde locks which are styled in loose waves. According to Allure magazine, the “Sober” singer underwent the makeover at Nine Zero One salon in L.A. courtesy of colorist Amber Maynard with the assistance of Anthony Holguin.
"We started the process by using Joico Color Intensity Eraser and then highlighted using Joico Blonde Life," Maynard told Allure of the process behind getting Demi's summery hue. "I custom-formulated her root shadow and toned with Joico Lumishine Demi-Permanent Liquid Color."
“Demi’s had dark hair for a long time — we thought what better way to switch it up than to go lighter and add extensions for length?” she added. “It was such a pretty yet also soft shade and we haven’t done a blonde like this before on Demi.”
Maynard has been working with Lovato for seven years now and told Allure she’s “always open [to] change and willing to take risks.”
Her new look comes on the heels of the release of her latest single “Sober,” in which she confesses to having relapsed.
“Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore / And Daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor," she sings in the track. "To the ones who never left me / We’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.”
Lovato performed the ballad during her set at Rock in Rio Lisbon on June 24, holding back tears and later tweeting: "Tonight I took the stage, a new person with a new life. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. It will never be forgotten."
