It’s official! David Foster and Katharine McPhee are engaged. The 34-year-old singer’s rep confirmed the news to TMZ after the music producer, 68, popped the question during their Italian summer getaway.
McPhee has also since confirmed the news on Twitter, posting a ring emoji along with a GIF of fellow newly engaged Ariana Grande which says, "And what about it?"
She also shared a screenshot of a text conversation on Instagram, giving more details about the proposal, revealing that Foster popped the question while on vacation.
"He did it at the top of this mountain in Anacapri," McPhee's texts read. "Totally dark only stars. Thankfully he didn't push me off the cliff. He said it was one or the other. And in the end he spared me. [face with tears of joy emoji]."
The newly engaged couple, who met back when McPhee was a contestant on American Idol in 2006, have been linked since last year, but have kept mum on their romance, despite Foster's daughter Erin Foster jokingly captioning a pic of McPhee "My new stepmom." In December, McPhee and Foster were spotted looking cozy in Paris. They then attended Elton John's Oscar party in March and in May, they made their public debut, walking the rep carpet together at the 2018 Met Gala.
This will be the second marriage for McPhee, who was previously married to Nick Cokas from 2008 to 2016. This will be the fifth marriage for Foster, who was previously married to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson and most recently, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid.
