Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey has an unusually large number of notable alums in its Hall of Fame from Zach Braff to Lauryn Hill.
But the student body understandably lost their minds when SZA, a proud member of the class of 2008, strolled into their assembly to be inducted.
While lots of teachers might discourage daydreaming, SZA explained in her speech it was instrumental in her self-discovery. She says:
"You find the details and the inner workings of yourself and what you actually want to do… daydreaming is actually where this whole thing starts."
"You have to pay attention to how God is working in your life," she added. "It starts with compassion. It starts with trusting yourself, even if people are telling you you’re too young to trust yourself."
