Why Kendrick Lamar's Pulitzer Prize is More Than Just a Win for Him

Kendrick Lamar was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his sonic masterpiece DAMN, but the album being honored is more than just a victory for Kendrick.

It is a massive win for hip hop and even pop music in general.

DAMN is the first album that doesn’t fall under jazz or classical to ever win a Pulitzer. Not even The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye or any of the other monumental pop artists over the years has ever won the Pulitzer Prize for History.

Simply put, he has made history. Congratulations, Kendrick!

DAMN is out now.
