How SZA Really Feels About Losing Best New Artist Grammy to Alessia Cara

When Alessia Cara won the Best New Artist Grammy she received a wave of backlash from people who thought she was too established.

Two of Alessia's singles “Here” and “Scars to Your Beautiful” hit No. 1 back in 2015 and SZA’s rabid fan base felt she had been robbed.

But one person who wasn’t mad at Alessia was SZA herself. She does admit she was disappointed she didn’t win at first.

"I feel compelled to express that I really mess with Alessia,” she tells GQ. “She’s beautiful, her voice is like water, it’s milk, I think it’s gorgeous. It has so much dimension, and she deserves every accolade that she gets."

"So it’s over," she adds. "You have to just move over and be grateful for the stuff that did happen in your favor."
