Ed Sheeran has taken home a new honor that wasn’t much of a surprise, but is a true testament to his unrivaled popularity.
The IFPI, A.K.A. the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has just named Ed their Global Recording Artist of the Year.
The award is automatically given to the bestselling artist worldwide and it wasn’t really close, but what makes it Ed’s win even more impressive.
He’s the first recipient to have the world’s bestselling album and single with Divide and "Shape of You" respectively.
For the record, Drake finished behind Ed at No. 2, followed closely by Taylor Swift at No. 3.
