Ashton Kutcher got surprisingly candid about his divorce from Demi Moore during an interview with actor Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast. The Two and a Half Men alum, who was married to Demi for six years before splitting in 2011 and finalizing their divorce in 2013, shared that he got away by himself, fasted and even sent other exes letters to get over their split.
“Right after I got divorced, I went to the mountains for a week by myself,” Kutcher revealed. “I did no food, no drink — just water and tea. I took all my computers away, my phone, my everything. I was there by myself, so there was no talking. I just had a notepad, a pen and water and tea — for a week.”
Kutcher shared that he escaped to Big Sky, Montana, and that he practiced Tai Chi once he started to experience hallucinations resulting from the cleanse.
“I started to hallucinate on like day two which was fantastic,” he told Dax. “It was pretty wonderful. I was doing Tai Chi with my own energy.”
To kill time, and as part of his cleanse, he used just his notepad and pen to reflect on the past and compared the process to an Alcoholics Anonymous exercise.
“I wrote down every single relationship that I had where I felt like there was some grudge or some anything, regret, anything,” he added. “And I wrote letters to every single person, and on day seven, I typed them all out and then sent them.”
Kutcher concluded that the trip was “really spiritual” and that it "cleared" his palette.
He’s now happily married to Mila Kunis. Together they share two children.
